Kna brides endangered species
Dear Fellow Knananites

Many Knananites keep themselves busy these days with one activity - bride or bridegroom's hunt for someone in the family.

Finding a life partner for many Knanaya youth has become a struggle. Our community is witnessing a strain in the edifice of this institution of marriage. Once the girl or boy cross the age of marriage, parents panic and even girls and boys start thinking that it is getting too late for them to get a good match. The result is the stress related ailments. As marriages get increasingly delayed, and young people try to cope with the increased stress in their lives, the impact is being felt.

In many families, highly qualified girls and boys are still waiting for proposals. For many it's turning out to be a long wait. Parents are splitting their hairs trying to find a bride or bridegroom. Match has been as elusive as ever. The search-bride, bridegroom algorithm is intimidating.

The continued decline in number of knanaya girls and boys between the age group 22 – 30 years is shocking. It is time for us to sit up and take notice. A stage may soon come where it would become extremely difficult, if not impossible, to make up for a match.. forget right match.

The issue is very serious. The community needs to be aware that, this issue requires the same attention as other problems. Individuals and groups from our community should come forward to take up responsibility of pooling credible information about bachelors and making it easily available to the members of the community.

Unless we begin to deal with this problem, it could simply be left to time… We could simply disintegrate.

The future is in our hands. SUGGEST YOUR SAY to tackle this problem ….
Regards,
Vinod Kuriakose,(CHENNAI)
